Chris’s acoustic guitar comes in and out and I think it should be more consistent, the song wouldn’t feel as choppy as it does if he just played through the whole thing, until everything gets quiet. I feel like Jonny could (and should) stand out a lot more during his guitar riff but that synthesized noise pretty much drowns him out. This song kind’ve picks the album up a bit after the horrible start with ruining “HLH” and the terrible lyrics of “Paradise.” There’s still a lot of unnecessary noise during Jonny’s guitar solo in this song… kind of takes away from Jonny a bit. I know I couldn’t stand “Paradise” but this song isn’t that bad. I don’t know what happened to him, but his writing quality has seriously dropped. The same man who wrote the album “A Rush of Blood to the Head” is writing songs that sound like either a fifth grader could’ve written them, or Kesha (e.g.: ETIAW). I feel like they could be really good but he didn’t feel like making things a little more complicated. “When she was just a girl she expected the world / but it flew away from her reach / so she ran away in her sleep / and dreamed of paradise.” Just a tidbit of these non-thought-provoking lyrics from Chris. Like I said before, the lyrics are so weak. I can’t stand the fact that they’re really throwing so much pre-recorded noise at these songs without really giving much thought to the fact that you can barely keep the rhythm over all that noise. The orchestra parts with just the strings and Chris’s piano sound so great… I really don’t understand why they couldn’t just stick with that. Plus, his guitar solo doesn’t really fit the melody. I don’t hear a guitar anywhere before that. I don’t even think Jonny’s in this song until the very end. It’s so much sound and techno noise it sounds like a Lady Gaga song. It kind’ve makes me tense how much synthesized sound is being blasted into your ears with Chris’s auto-tuned voice and the fucking drum machine, again. So much sound, you can barely hear what’s going on. It came out a few weeks ago and the lyrics are absolutely terrible.
